Deep inside this box are the faint scents of prickly pear, olive pits, rain, and oysters.
We always begin these collaborations with a prompt. Having recently read Jane Avrich’s short story, “Lady Macbeth, Prickly Pear Queen” (The Winter Without Milk, 2003), Carolyn Henne suggested we adopt it as our springboard. We did, but staying true to our process, we eventually shed the storyline and hung onto the color, the language, the feminist spirit, the playfulness, the freedom to be upside down in a downside up world.
The box is a stage; the objects are the cast. The book is a play, but also a scrapbook that keeps the corsages and stickers you’ll also fine here.
Fair is fowl and fowl is fair, you can take Tremble anywhere
